The Aviation Technician Aircraft (AT) of the Royal Australian Navy is a highly skilled and specialised role within the Australian Defence Force. The AT provides technical support services, repairs, inspections and maintenance on all types of fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters and other aircraft systems in use by the Navy. They are specifically trained to inspect, diagnose, repair and service aircraft and related systems including engines, avionic systems, hydraulic systems and electronic equipment.
ATs are responsible for the safe operation of all Navy-operated aircraft and have a wide range of responsibilities which include but are not limited to: providing technical advice on aircraft maintenance; conducting periodic checks and inspections; diagnosing faults; repairing components and systems; performing retrofit modifications and upgrades; providing technical reports and maintenance records; managing spares, tools and ground support equipment.
