75 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force, established on March 4, 1942, has a distinguished history marked by significant contributions to various wartime efforts. Originally formed during World War II, the squadron quickly became instrumental in the defense of Northern Australia and New Guinea, flying P-40 Kittyhawk fighters. Over the decades, 75 Squadron has undergone various transitions in aircraft and roles, adapting to the evolving military needs of Australia. During the Vietnam War, the squadron was briefly disbanded, but reformed in 1965 to fly the newly acquired Mirage III fighters. Later, in the 1980s, the squadron transitioned to the F/A-18A Hornet, further enhancing its capabilities. Throughout its history, 75 Squadron has played a vital role in both national defence and international peacekeeping efforts, maintaining a reputation for excellence and resilience.
