Australia's military transport aircraft, including the Douglas C-47 Dakota, Lockheed C-130 Hercules and Boeing 707. Based predominantly at RAAF Base Richmond, the squadron provided essential engineering, servicing and technical support to the RAAF's air transport capability for more than five decades. Its motto, "Strength and Achievement,"reflected its commitment to professionalism, technical excellence and operational reliability. No. 486 Squadron was formally disbanded in October 1998, leaving a proud legacy of service to Australian military aviation.
