460 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force was formed on November 15, 1941, as part of the British Royal Air Force's Bomber Command during World War II. It was initially established at Molesworth, England, and was equipped with Vickers Wellington bombers, which were later replaced with the heavier Avro Lancaster bombers. The squadron's primary mission was to participate in strategic bombing campaigns over Europe, playing a critical role in weakening the Axis powers. The formation of 460 Squadron marked a significant contribution by Australia to the Allied war effort, and it quickly gained a reputation for its daring and effective operations
