The HMAS Tobruk, a cherished piece of the Royal Australian Navy's history, has a rich and illustrious past. Commissioned in April 1981, this Landing Ship Heavy (LSH) served as a multi-purpose heavy lift ship designed expressly to transport military equipment and personnel. Named after the Siege of Tobruk during the Second World War, HMAS Tobruk honoured the resilient spirit of the Australian soldiers who served there.
